Instytut Podstaw Informatyki Polskiej Akademii Nauk

The Institute of Computer Science, Polish Academy of Sciences, is one of the leading Polish computer science research centers. The scientific activities of the Institute include basic research, work related to the development and analysis of new computer methods, and their application in other fields of science. We strive to maintain and strengthen basic research - mathematical or close to mathematics - including logic, graph theory, cryptography, information theory, time series and other branches of probability. Another goal is to develop original solutions with application potential in research areas including linguistic engineering and knowledge discovery in large collections of documents, distributed systems, cryptography, machine learning, multi-agent systems and bioinformatics. IPI PAN participate in the training of young scientists the PhD schools of information and biomedical technologies (TIB PAN) and molecular medicine (SMM).

Recent major research results developed by IPIPAN scientists include the development of an encryption and simultaneous compression algorithm for the cyber security of the Internet of Things (IoT), the use of artificial intelligence methods to study the causes of glioblastoma brain disease, and research on natural language processing research that has enabled the development of the first large-scale language model for public administration, PLLuM, together with other consortium members.
